Music in Place collaborates with multiple partner organizations to keep the love of music alive in Sonoma and beyond. Our classes for children and adults alike are sure to inspire!

Music Foundation

Music in Place is a proud partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley and the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco, to provide high-quality music education through afterschool programs. Our professional teaching artists and music educators introduce students to the fundamentals of music including pulse, tempo, meter, dynamics, melody, harmony, timbre, texture, style and form primarily through percussion instruments, body percussion, movement and visual art.

We offer 8-week sessions at three Boys & Girls Club locations, providing students in Sonoma Valley with up to 96 music classes throughout the year. With an average of 20 students per session, our programs currently provide approximately 1,900 hours of music education annually.

In Fall 2026, we will expand our program by adding second weekly session at Flowery Elementary, providing an additional 640 hours of music education and bringing our total to more than 2,000 hours annually. In San Francisco, we are starting our second year pilot program at three Club locations.

Music in Place’s education programming also extends beyond the classroom. Working with organizations such as the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, we provide group tickets to performances, including the Santa Rosa Symphony, SF Jazz, and our own Music in Place concerts, giving young people opportunities to experience a variety of musical styles and live arts performances.

Through these partnerships, Music in Place is helping make high-quality, hands-on music education accessible to more young people throughout our community.

If your school or organization is interested in participating in a Music in Place education program or if you are interested in sponsoring the Music Foundations Program, please contact us, we’d love to explore the possibilities together.
