Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza

This summer, Music in Place and the City of Sonoma invite you to soak up the sunshine, sip local wine, and dance to live music at the Sonoma Plaza Grinstead Amphitheater during Sonoma Sundays On the Plaza, a free concert series running June 7 through October 4, 2026.

Every Sunday from 2:00–5:00 pm, the Plaza comes alive with an exciting mix of musical styles: blues, soul, country, jazz, swing, Americana, mariachi, and more. With a fresh lineup of acclaimed artists, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Sonoma Sundays is all about creating opportunities for the community to come together through the power of live music. Music in Place is excited to bring an incredible range of artists to the Plaza this summer and continue building connections through music.

Sonoma Sundays are free and open to all, thanks to the generous support of the Sonoma Community Center, The Dawn Redwoods Trust, and the KHR McNeely Family Foundation.

Pack your picnic, bring your dancing shoes, and meet us on the Plaza!

This Week’s Line Up

Alabama Mike

In 1964, Alabama Mike was born Michael Benjamin in Talladega, Alabama, where he spent his formative years. Early on, he was musically influenced by his father Joseph Benjamin, a very talented tenor vocalist from whom he inherited that soulful, gospel-drenched approach to his vocal style.

A stint in the US Navy brought him to Oakland, CA, where he now resides. His early influences were ZZ Hill, Johnnie ‘Soul” Taylor, Lightning Hopkins and Junior Wells. He has won various awards and has been nominated by The Blues Foundation on several occasions. In addition, he has played major festivals, both domestically and internationally, and is presently been referred to by some as the Future Of The Blues! He has to date released several solo projects that are available on most digital platforms. The most recent release, “Stuff I’ve Been Through,” on the Little Village Foundation label, has been nominated by the Blues Foundation for Soul Blues Album of the Year 2024, along with Benjamin himself garnering several awards and recently nomination for male Soul Blues Artist of the Year 2026.

He has collaborated and shared the stage with many industry giants, including ,Kid Andersen, D’Mar Martin, Anson Funderburgh & The Rockets, Bob Corritore, Rick Estrin & The Nightcats, Toni Tone Tony, Jim Pugh, Jerry Jemmott, Bob Corritore, Kim Wilson and many others. Although he has become a much sought-after international artist, he works locally with a top tier group The Mighty Revelators, which includes Ronnie Smith (Drums), AJ Joyce(Bass), Bernard Anderson(Sax) and Bobby Young (Guitar), who are all bringing great music to the San Francisco Bay area blues scene.
