Sonoma Sundays on the Plaza
This summer, Music in Place and the City of Sonoma invite you to soak up the sunshine, sip local wine, and dance to live music at the Sonoma Plaza Grinstead Amphitheater during Sonoma Sundays On the Plaza, a free concert series running June 7 through October 4, 2026.
Every Sunday from 2:00–5:00 PM, the Plaza comes alive with an exciting mix of musical styles: blues, soul, country, jazz, swing, Americana, mariachi, and more. With a fresh lineup of acclaimed artists, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Sonoma Sundays is all about creating opportunities for the community to come together through the power of live music. Music in Place is excited to bring an incredible range of artists to the Plaza this summer and continue building connections through music.
Sonoma Sundays are free and open to all, thanks to the generous support of the Sonoma Community Center, The Dawn Redwoods Trust, and the KHR McNeely Family Foundation.

Howard Paul
Howard Paul is an acclaimed jazz guitarist and President/CEO of Benedetto Guitars, a celebrated jazz guitar manufacturing company founded in 1968. Growing up near Atlantic City, NJ, he’s played guitar since age 4, and focused exclusively on jazz since age 10.
In the past several decades he has performed/recorded with many jazz greats including: pianists Bob James, Cyrus Chestnut, Lawrence Hobgood, Shelly Berg, Chuck Leavell and Matt Rollings; organists Tony Monaco, Doug Carn and Joey DeFrancesco; guitarists Bucky Pizzarelli, Jimmy Bruno, Chico Pinheiro, Romero Lubambo, Howard Alden, , Joe Negri, Joe Beck, Pat Martino and Frank Vignola; drummers Harvey Mason, Ulysses Owens Jr., Karl Latham, Gary Novak and Quentin Baxter; bassists John Lee, Ben Tucker, Victor Wooten, Mark Egan, Mark Peterson, and Phil Morrison; trumpet players Freddie Hendrix and Jon Faddis; and saxophonist Tom Scott, Kirk Whalum, Frank Catalano, and Don Braden.
Howard regularly lectures at universities and conservatories on the History and Architecture of Jazz Guitar, contributes to guitar publications, and performs at jazz clubs/festivals in the USA and Europe. In 2011 he was inducted in the Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame, is president of Coastal Jazz Association/Savannah Jazz, and is a regular member of the Savannah Jazz Orchestra.
His most recent recordings include: “Jammin’ at the Jazz Corner” – Ali Ryerson Trio; “Just Friends” – Bob James & Howard Paul; “New Adventures” – Tony Monaco & Howard Paul; and “The Presidents” – Jody Espina & Howard Paul.
In addition to his music career, Howard has BA in Political Science (UNC-Greensboro), served as an officer in the US Army (1986-96) in Europe, the Middle East (Desert Storm), Somalia (Restore Hope). He left the service at the rank of Major and worked as a corporate executive for a decade while transitioning back to the music profession in Savannah, GA.
In 2006 he partnered with famed luthier Robert Benedetto and moved the guitar manufacturing company to Savannah.
